Greg Minnaar - 3 Time World Cup Champion
Saturday saw the realisation of goal that behind it had a lot of hard work,
especially in the off season, and that goal was to reclaim the World Cup title
that injury and bad luck have prevented Greg from defending for the past 2
years.
The newly crowned 2008 World Cup Champion can now add that to his World Cup
overall titles of 2001 and 2005, and join Peaty as the only men to have won the
series 3 times. Nico Vouilloz is ahead of them with 5 series wins.

Bas peters wint in Gieten
Vandaag vond de klassieke race in Gieten plaats. Deze keer onder iets minder
prettige omstandigheden dan dat we de afgelopen weken gewend waren. In een race
over 2 grote ronde streden honderden bikers voor de ereplaatsen. In dit
startveld stonden namens onze ploeg, Bas Peters, Niels Wubben en Laura Turpijn
aan de start. Traditioneel is Gieten altijd een racebaan, maar door de vele
regen was dit vandaag minder het geval. Niels voelde aan zijn benen dat het
niet verkeerd is dat het einde van het seizoen nadert. Bas daarin tegen had er

Bekkenk en Verwegen op podium in Langenberg marathon
Afgelopen weekend vond in Wiemeringhausen de traditionele Langenberg
mountainbike marathon plaats met als zwaartepunt de beklimming van de 843 meter
hoge Langenberg.
Op de langste afstand van 110 kilometer stonden na afloop de Nissan bikers
Ramses Bekkenk en Wilco Verwegen naast elkaar op het podium. Bekkenk reed na 45
kilometer wedstrijd weg bij zijn medevluchters en kwam alleen over de finish.
Verwegen eindigde na Rob van der Werf als derde.

Bas Peters 6de in Zuid Frankrijk
Vandaag stond de laatste race van 2008 op het programma. Niet alle bikers
kwamen nog in actie. Bas Peters en Laura Turpijn kozen ervoor om deze laatste
race te laten plaatsvinden in het Zuid Franse Frejus. Hier wordt ieder jaar de
grootste mountainbike race van de wereld georganiseerd: Roc D'azur! Gisteren
mocht Laura voor haar wedstrijd vertrekken. Na een super start wist zij zich
met de beste Internationale dames te meten. Helaas reed zij na post 2 lek en
moest zij haar 3de plek inleveren en kwam zij als 4de weer terug in de race.

Uitslagen Stappenbelt BMC Mountainbike Team - AMK Apeldoorn
Apeldoorn - Vandaag hebben we met het Stappenbelt BMC Mountainbike Team het
seizoen 2008 definitief afgesloten. Het Apeldoornse Mountainbike Kampioenschap
was de plaats waar dit gebeurde. Nagenoeg het gehele team kwam in actie.
Teammanager Gert Stappenbelt en ondergetekende mochten starten bij de "oude"
mannen van 35+. Gert deed het uitstekend. Hij heeft het gehele seizoen al goede
prestaties laten zien bij de Masters 40+ en vandaag was hij vanaf het begin
heer en meester op de technische ronde. Hij reed vanaf het begin op kop en werd
met grote voorsprong nummer 1.

Sam Hill Takes 2nd at Sainte-Anne, Brendan Fairclough 12th
Round 4 of the Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup saw the World's best downhill
racers hitting it out on a damper Mont-Sainte-Anne course after more than a
month?s break from racing the series. Team Monster Energy Iron Horse's Sam Hill
(AUS) took 2nd place in the semi final, and another 2nd place in the final, to
now find himself 2nd overall in the series. Team mate Brendan Fairclough (GBR),
now back in full fitness, finished 12th, a career best on the physically
demanding course.

Irjan Luttenberg Nederlands Kampioen Beloften 2008
Oss - Irjan Luttenberg is vandaag in een fenomenaal gereden wedstrijd
Nederlands Kampioen geworden in de categorie Beloften. In een zeer bekeken en
goed gedoseerde race reed hij als eerste over de finishlijn in Oss. Irjan:"Ik
had dit niet verwacht toen ik vanmorgen op stond. Ik wist dat de vorm heel goed
was, omdat ik vorige week tijdens een top wedstrijd in Duitsland 4e belofte was
en 2e Nederlander. Maar dat ik vandaag zo hard kon op dit zware parkoers had ik
zeker niet verwacht". Het was een slopende wedstrijd die op het einde op een
indrukkende wijze werd beslist door Irjan

Sam Hill Wins Round 5 And Takes Back Leader Jersey
In an impressive return to the winner's circle, Team Monster Energy Iron
Horse's Sam Hill (AUS) took the win today at the Quebec ski resort of Bromont,
just outside of Montreal, and in doing so, earned back the leader's jersey he'd
lost last week to main rival Greg Minnaar (RSA). Not only did Sam win the
final, but he won qualifying in the semi final which gave him the maximum 250
points against Minnaar's 182 points.
Team mate Brendan Fairclough showed he's back on form with a 6th place in the
final, his best result all season, and he was the first to rush over and

Liam Killeen Finishes Marathon Worlds Despite Hospital Visit
In possibly a first in international mountain biking, Liam Killeen finished the
World Marathon Championships at the weekend, despite a mid race visit to the
hospital to receive stitches!

Greg Minnaar Joins UCI MTB Commision
There has been talk in the World Cup paddock since Andorra, but it became
official today that Greg Minnaar (RSA) has been formally appointed to the UCI
Mountain Bike Commission, effectively as the gravity riders' representative.
The current MTB Commission has been without a gravity athlete essentially since
