Gee Atherton on 4 Podiums at Fort William World Cup

Gee Atherton of Team Animal Giant found himself on 4 out of 4 podiums at the
finals of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup held in Fort William, Scotland last
weekend. The 20 year old from Oswestry had a 5th place in the Downhill, a 3rd
place in the 4X after qualifying 1st, and both of these results meant podium
appearances for the overall season results finishing 5th overall in both the
Downhill and the 4X.

Gee?s sister Rachel also made two appearances with a career equal best 2nd
place in the Downhill, and a 3rd overall for the 2005 Downhill season.

Greg Minnaar 2nd in World Cup Finals

This weekend saw the final chapter of the 2005 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup
unfold in the highlands of Scotland, at the classic race venue of Ben Nevis,
near Fort William. Three times voted the best race of the year, Fort William
never disappoints with huge enthusiastic crowds and dramatic racing. This
weekend saw Greg Minnaar (RSA) stand twice on the podium, and his teammate
Matti Lehikoinen (FIN) scoring a career best result to come within 1 second of
making his first ever podium in World Cup racing.

Kyle Strait Records Career Best Performances at World Cup

18 year old Kyle Strait (Specialized/Oakley/Red Bull) recorded his best ever
results in World Cup racing at last weekend?s finals in Fort William, Scotland,
with an impressive 12th place in Downhill and 7th in the 4X.

The junior rider from Redlands, California was making up for a disappointing
World Championships where a snapped thumb shifter and a crash put him out of
contention for the Junior World Title. In Fort William he finished as the
highest placed junior in the downhill and 4X, coming within inches of his first
World Cup podium.

MerlanDuo-Be One renster Claire Buchar uitstekend 13e in worldcup

Fort William, Schotland - In de finale van de wereldbeker downhill is Claire
Buchar van het MerlanDuo-Be One team uistekend als 13e geeindigd. Voor Buchar
een enorme opluchting om een seizoen met veel tegenslagen en blessures met dit
mooie resultaat af te sluiten. De race werd gewonnen door thuisrijdster Tracey
Moseley.

IMTTO event of year 2005: FORT WILLIAM

At last Friday's IMTTO meeting in Fort William, Scotland, IMTTO Vice President
Martin Whiteley surprised Mike Jardine and Lesley Beck of Rare Management, when
they were awarded a huge crystal trophy for their 2005 World Cup Event, voted
by 62 IMTTO Members as the event of the year. The two were at the meeting to
brief the membership on plans for the 2007 Worlds.

Unlike other event awards, IMTTO members vote on all MTB events, not just World
Cups. This means every event on the 2005 calendar, regardless of their
affiliations, or event style, are considered by the members.
