World Championship Bronze for Kessiakoff Aboard His New Cannondale
Rotorua, August 27 ? Fredrik Kessiakoff took a fantastic third place in this
weekend?s World Championship cross country race, held Sunday in New Zealand.
Only Julien Absalon and former teammate Christoph Sauser were able to better
the Swedish rider who resides in Italy on the shores of Lago Maggiore. On
Saturday, Fredrik decided to race the new Canondale carbon Taurine since the
race day forecast called for rain (and the need to portage his bike for
extended periods).

Brentjes laat EK schieten
NIEUWEGEIN (ANP) - Bart Brentjes doet niet mee aan het Europees kampioenschap
mountainbike. De voormalig olympisch kampioen richt zich volledig op het
wereldkampioenschap dat van 22 tot 27 augustus in Rotorua in Nieuw-Zeeland
wordt gehouden.
Het EK, van 28 tot 30 juli in het Italiaanse Lamosano, past niet in zijn
voorbereiding. Selectie WK: Mannen: Bas Peters, Jelmer Pietersma, Thijs Al,
Gerben de Knegt en Frank Schotman. Vrouwen: Elsbeth van Rooy-Vink, Laura
Turpijn, Ariel van Meurs en Saskia Elemans.

Nico Vink heeft ticket voor WK beet
De kogel is door de kerk. Downhiller Nico Vink mag naar het wereldkampioenschap
dat eind augustus plaatsvindt in het Nieuw-Zeelandse Rotorua. De
selectiecomissie van de KBWB was niet blind voor de uitstekende resultaten die
de Waaslander neerzette tijdens de laatste wereldbekermanche in Mont-Saint-Anne
(14de) en afgelopen weekend nog tijdens het Europees kampioenschap in Val Di
Sole (7de). Het was Nico zelf die ons het goede nieuwe via de telefoon meldde.

Paulissen pakt brons op WK marathon
Roel Paulissen heeft eindelijk zijn eerste vette prijs van het seizoen beet.
Het sterk bezette WK marathon in de Franse Alpen tussen Les 2 Alpes en
Bourg-d'Oisans leverde hem een bronzen medaille op. Na honderd kilometer op een
technisch en modderig parcours moest hij alleen Europees kampioen Ralph N

Selecties WK Mountainbike, 4-Cross en Trial bekend
Nieuwegein ? De bondscoach Mountainbike, Leo van Zeeland, heeft zijn selectie
voor het WK Mountainbike in Frankrijk en Nieuw Zeeland bekend gemaakt. Het WK
Marathon vind plaats op 13 augustus in Oisans, Frankrijk. Het WK Cross Country
wordt verreden van 20 ? 27 augustus in Roturua, Nieuw Zeeland. In dezelfde
periode vind in Roturua ook het WK 4-Cross en Trial plaats.

Joost Wichman: European 4 Cross Champ
In the last week of July the European 4x champs took place in Stollberg,
Germany. Cannondale-sponsored Jurg Meijer and Joost Wichman both qualified for
this race due to their good results in the World Cups. Even though Joost had
appendix surgery just three weeks prior, they both felt strong going into the
race.
Both Jurg and Joost made it to the finals together with Tshugg and Beaumont.
The final wasn't really exciting because Joost Wichman lead from the start till
the finish, becoming European champ. Jurg got a good gate but slipped in the

One, Two punch for Rennie and Peaty, REnnie leads the charge
World Championships Downhill Seeding Run
Rotorua, New Zealand Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006. The stormy skies were brewing as
downhill practice commenced, promising rain in the very near future. Riders are
having fun on the slippery track, as it?s
held lots of moisture since the last rain two days ago.
Syndicate riders Steve Peat and Nathan Rennie are having fun on the track. The
track starts at the top of a grassy hill, surrounded by sheep. In fact it is in
the sheep?s pasture, they?ve just been sent to a
nearby pasture for the week.

Dringen, duwen en beuken voor Joost Wichman
LICHTENVOORDE - De wereld van Joost Wichman stortte in elkaar. De geboren
BMX-er kreeg, dromend van zijn Olympische sport in 2008, te horen dat het beter
voor zijn rug was om te stoppen met fietscrossen. Een Europese titel en een
WK-ticket later voor de fourcross (4X) is de pijn grotendeels verdwenen.
In het Nieuw-Zeelandse Rotorua vindt deze week het WK mountainbike plaats.
Onderdeel van dit mondiale ?dikkebandentoernooi? is de fourcross, ook wel
4-Cross of 4X geheten. Met drie Nederlandse deelnemers morgen aan de start,

Vink ziet af van deelname aan WK MTB
Elsbeth Vink ziet af van deelname aan het wereldkampioenschap mountainbiken,
dat volgende week plaats vindt in Nieuw-Zeeland. De mountainbikester vreest dat
ze opnieuw ziek wordt door de lange reis naar de andere kant van de aardbol.
Vorig jaar was Vink lange tijd uitgeschakeld door ziekte, ook dit jaar kon ze
