Pohorje Mountain Ready For Mountain Bikers
Next weeks some 500 mountain bike racers come to Maribor to compete in three
disciplines at the Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Finals. Racing and lots
of side events to draw crowds.
Maribor, September 6 - At today's press conference in hotel Arena the
organizers of Mountain Bike World Cup final presented the last preparations
before the event. A week from today Maribor will be filled with world's best
mountain bike athletes. On Saturday September 15 and Sunday September 16 they
will compete against each other for the last time this year.

4-Cross qualification tonight. On Saturday two cycling stars on the start of
cross-country, a Giro winner and a cyclocross champ. Last night World Champions
reception and charity event.
Maribor, September 14 - The temperatures are rising at the venue of the 2007
Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Finals in Maribor, Slovenia. Competition
starts this afternoon at 17.30 with 4-cross qualification.
Among all the established cross-country stars battling in out on Saturday there
will be two big names from other cycling disciplines - the two time Giro

Winners at Maribor Pohorje are Ying Liu (Chn), Fredrik Kessiakoff (Swe) in
cross-country and Anneke Beerten (Ned), Romain Saladini (Fra) in 4-cross. Upset
in overall women's 4X in Beerten's favor.
Maribor, September 15 - At the 2007 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Finals
in Slovenia Saturday brought last races of the season in
cross-country and 4-cross.
In women's XCO the 22 year old Chinese Jing Liu was the first of the day to
score her first World Cup victory. After 26.2 km she crossed the finish line 43
Nico Vink makes comeback at worldcup Maribor
Maribor, Slovenia ? Dolphin biker and Belgian champion Nico Vink will be
returning on world level downhill in this weekend?s worldcup race of Maribor.
Vink is looking forward to compete again after being injured for over almost 2
months in total when he suffered from a severe back injury. He?s been riding
moto cross last weekend to keep fit and is keen to set a good time in Maribor.

Dit weekend waren wij met het team op verschillende plaatsen actief. Zo reden
Bas Peters, Ruud Rentmeester en Laura Turpijn gisteren de laatste wereld beker
van het seizoen in het Sloveense Maribor. Dit was tevens de laatste kans om je
in 2007 te kwalificeren voor de Olympische Spelen volgend jaar in Peking.
Helaas wisten onze bikers dit niet voor elkaar te boxen. Laura was betrokken
bij een valpartij in de eerste ronde en moest hierdoor weer terug zien te komen
vanaf achter in het veld. Zij werd uiteindelijk 26st. Ook Bas Peters had weinig
Team G Cross Honda Wins World Cup Overall
Team G Cross Honda have won the team ranking for the 2nd year in a row at the
UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, after the remaining two team riders finished top
10 in the Maribor race, here in Slovenia. 23 year old Matti Lehikoinen (FIN),
in his final race for the team before leading another team in 2008, put in a
classy performance riding a controlled semi final and final to garner enough
points to move from 3rd to 2nd overall. Younger team mate Brendan Fairclough
(GBR) overcame a puncture in the semi final to put in another top ride and
boost his ranking to career best 12th.
23.000 Loud Fans On Pohorje Mountain
Rachel Atherton and Sam Hill will the downhill final, Hill and Sabrina Jonnier
take the overall. DH and 4X back in Maribor in May 2008.
Maribor, September 16 - Today the 2007 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup
Finals in Slovenia ended with the downhill race on the 2.8 km, 450 m elevation
drop track. Rachel Atherton (GBr, Animal Commencal) and Sam Hill (Aus, Iron
Horse/Monster Energy) won the last race of the season.
Atherton successfully returned to racing with a silver from the World
Championships in Scotland last week after an injury in early season. This time

Just one week after the worlds in Fort William everybody took the trip to
Maribor for the world cup finals. The track in Maribor was very long and
difficult. Lots of offcamber stuff
and a lot of roots... During the qualifications I made some small mistakes but
at the end I ended up in the top 10.
On saterday evening the finals were on. A lot of people had come to watch the
races, think about 15.000! Untill my semi's everything went the way it suppose
to go. I won all my races and made it pretty easy into the semis. In the semi

MARIBOR (ANP) - Anneke Beerten heeft in Maribor overtuigend de wereldbeker
4-cross opgehaald. De Achterhoekse mountainbikester, vorige week goed voor het
zilver op het WK, bleef haar drie concurrentes zowel in de halve finale als de
eindstrijd voor.
In de eindrangschikking van de World Cup verdrong Beerten de Amerikaanse Jill
Kintner daardoor van de eerste plaats. Bij de mannen zegevierde de Fransman
Romain Saladini in deze discipline. Joost Wichman werd vijfde door de 'kleine
finale' te winnen. In het WB-klassement eindigde de Amerikaan Brian Lopes als
eerste.

Slovenian World Cup stage voted second in downhill and fourcross only to
Schladming in 2007 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World Cup poll.
A month and ten days after the last act of 2007 Nissan UCI Mountain Bike World
Cup in Maribor International Cycling Union (UCI) published the list of best
venues of the past season.
Maribor took second place among the downhill and fourcross organizers after a
four year absence from the tour. Schladming, Austria placed first, already the
winner in 2006. The classic hosts from Mont Sainte Anne, Quebec, Canada placed
third.
