Gee Atherton on 4 Podiums at Fort William World Cup

Gee Atherton of Team Animal Giant found himself on 4 out of 4 podiums at the
finals of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup held in Fort William, Scotland last
weekend. The 20 year old from Oswestry had a 5th place in the Downhill, a 3rd
place in the 4X after qualifying 1st, and both of these results meant podium
appearances for the overall season results finishing 5th overall in both the
Downhill and the 4X.

Gee?s sister Rachel also made two appearances with a career equal best 2nd
place in the Downhill, and a 3rd overall for the 2005 Downhill season.

Rachel Atherton Wins World Championship

17 year old Rachel Atherton of Team Animal Giant entered mountain biking?s
history books yesterday by becoming the first ever British athlete to win a
Downhill World Championship, when she took the gold medal here in Livigno (ITA)
in a thrilling ride that had her on the edge for most of the high speed course.

In Thursday?s qualification and seeding run, Rachel recorded a time well down
on her major competitor, 2004 Junior World Champion Scarlett Hagen (NZL), after
being delayed by a slower competitor.

Gee Atherton On Top Gear, December 4

20 year old Gee Atherton will appear on the highly popular TV program, Top
Gear, next Sunday December 4. The talented Animal/Giant rider was invited to
race down the streets of Lisbon, on the now famous racecourse used for the
annual Lisbon Downtown, against a new model Renault Clio. The car used a
separate by similar length course (without stairs etc.), to see which would be
faster through downtown.

Gee took to the streets on his Giant Reign, and spent one and a half days

World Champion Rachel Atherton Wins Prestigious Award

17-year-old Junior World Downhill Champion Rachel Atherton last night won the
Sunday Times Young Sportswoman of the Year award in a gala ceremony held at Old
Billingsgate Market on the Thames River in London.

Atherton Racing Team Appoints New Road Manager

In conjunction with www.descent-world.co.uk in the UK, the Atherton Racing Team
went in search of a Road Manager to join them on the 2006 World Cup tour with
their pro race team, Animal/Giant. More than 50 quality applications flooded in
to the Athertons, and subsequently these applicants went through a lengthy
selection process. Eventually the group was refined down to 3 finalists.

The 3 finalists travelled to Wales for their face-to-face interviews, and all
three impressed the Athertons greatly but after much deliberation, 24-year-old

Gee and rachel Atherton Take Euro Titles

Brother and sister Gee and Rachel Atherton won their respective European
Championships in Elite Downhill at the weekend, while elder brother Dan
finished top 5.

The 2006 European Championships were held in Vale di Sole, Italy, where they
were held last year, and where the World Mountain Bike Championships will be
hosted in 2008, as recently confirmed by the UCI.

The course was extremely tricky, as it was last year, with many riders

Rachel Atherton Wins World Cup In Brazil

18 year old Rachel Atherton of Wales won her first ever World Cup Downhill here
in Brazil today, after a strong semi final raised her confidence for a possible
win.

The 2005 Junior World Champion finished her semi final just 1.3secs off World
Cup series leader Tracy Moseley (GBR) and Rachel knew where she could make up
some extra time.

"As I went up in the gondola I just pictured myself beating Sabrina's (Jonnier)
time and taking the hot seat. I had a perfect run, except for the last jump
