Freeride Mekka Saalbach Hinterglemm rocks
(sgh) ? For nearly one week the small town of Saalbach Hinterglemm turned into
a Freeride Mekka ? the second edition of the adidas Slopestyle Contest pulled
the fourty best freeriders in the world to Austria as well as 100 journalists
and photographers and the Who?s Who of the international freeride community.
After two impressive qualifier runs on Friday, the TOP 15 riders performed a
rock show in the finals today, flying over the massive obstacle course designed
by the Canadian adidas Rotwild rider Gareth Dyer.

Laura Turpijn wint Berg race in Arnhem
Afgelopen weekend stonden er diverse wedstrijden op het programma voor het
Binnenvaart-Merida Team. Alles in voorbereiding op het Nederlands Kampioenschap
Marathon aankomend weekend in Groesbeek! Zo reed Hans Becking een wedstrijd
meetellend om de Belgische Topcompetitie. En onze snelle jonge renner deed het
hier zeer goed. Na een kopstart wist hij de hele race van voren mee te rijden.
De laatste 2 ronden passeerde hij nog 3 man en hij wist daarmee 5de overal te
eindigen en hij was daarmee 3de in zijn leeftijdscategorie! Weer een top drie
plaats voor hem dus.

Minnaar Extends Lead in World Cup After Round 4
Team G Cross Honda rider Greg Minnaar finished a close 2nd today in the 4th
round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, after
setting the fastest time in the semi-finals earlier in the day. The 23 year old
South African, on board his Honda RN01, had a very strong final to finish just
half a second off the reigning World Champion Fabien Barel (FRA).

Micha de Vries verder met prive sponsor
Hilversum, Nederland ? Dolphin renner Micha de Vries zal dan toch niet verder
gaan in zijn nieuwe functie bij het Dolphin team 2007. De Vries besloot terug
te komen op zijn beslissing om gecombineerd als cyclocrosser (winterseizoen) en
begeleider voor de jongeren (zomerseizoen) te zijn bij Dolphin.

Mountainbiken is nieuwe passie van De Koeijer
TERNEUZEN - Erik de Koeijer keepte jarenlang op hoog niveau en zette ruim een
jaar geleden een punt achter een mooie voetballoopbaan. De sluitpost heeft als
keeperstrainer bij de jeugd nog een band met Terneuzen, maar kan zijn ei nu
vooral kwijt op de fiets. De Koeijer (38) beklom al twee keer de Mont Ventoux
en bracht onlangs de loodzware Vulkanbike in het Duitse Eiffelgebergte tot een
goed eind.
Voor Erik de Koeijer is het hoofdstuk voetbal gesloten. Toen vorige week zondag
Dennis Wondergem geblesseerd het veld moest verlaten en zijn vervanger Kim

Kyle Strait Records Career Best Performances at World Cup
18 year old Kyle Strait (Specialized/Oakley/Red Bull) recorded his best ever
results in World Cup racing at last weekend?s finals in Fort William, Scotland,
with an impressive 12th place in Downhill and 7th in the 4X.
The junior rider from Redlands, California was making up for a disappointing
World Championships where a snapped thumb shifter and a crash put him out of
contention for the Junior World Title. In Fort William he finished as the
highest placed junior in the downhill and 4X, coming within inches of his first
World Cup podium.

Liam Killeen Scores Another World Cup Podium
Liam Killeen (GBR) of the Specialized Factory Team rode to his 2nd ever World
Cup Cross Country podium yesterday in the sweltering humidity of
Mont-Sainte-Anne, the famous mountain bike destination on the outskirts of
Quebec City, Canada. The 23 year old from Malvern rode his Epic in a solid race
from start to finish, despite an early crash that had him on the ground in the
first lap.
Temperatures yesterday reached the thirties but it was the oppressing humidity
that most riders found uncomfortable over 6 laps of arguably the toughest

Paulissen rijdt met gebroken rib
Roel Paulissen brak een week voor het WK bij een val een rib. Dat bracht een
diagnose in het ziekenhuis nu pas aan het licht en verklaart meteen zijn opgave
in de laatste Wereldbekerproef in Fort William. Toch wil hij zondag in
Winterslag rijden in zijn eigen GP. De thuisrenner neemt het op tegen Ralf N

Christoph Sauser naar Specialized
The last 3 weeks have been very challenging, with a lot of talking and
brainstorming. I have made a decision about who I will ride for in 2006. With
the contract signed, I can now say that, starting next year, I will represent
Specialized Bicycles from the USA. I have signed a two-year contract with them
that contains a strong option for the 2008 Olympic year.
I finally decided to go with Specialized because I felt most at home there and
they have offered me the best package -I will be racing their new S-Works
