contract renewal of slopestyle superstar Paul Basagoitia. Basagoitia, a Kona
Clump Team Rider since 2005, BIKE Magazine?s Breakthrough Performer in 2005?s
Video Awards for his performance in NWD 5 and winner of the Crankworx
Slopestyle event two years running, is now contracted with Kona through 2007.

Kona Clump Team Rider Paul Basagoitia placed 3 rd in the final event of the
2006 Kokanee Crankworx festival in Whistler, BC. Paul was looking for some
redemption after relinquishing his crown in the Slopestyle to Cameron Zink. He
was able to get some with a bit of podium time for the Kona Jump Jam.
Basagoitia put together two solid runs in the small final to narrowly edge out
Greg Watts. Bas sealed up third place with some smooth style consisting of back
flips and tailwhips. He was a bit banged up from a couple of crashes in the

After a weekend of battling the inclement weather in West Virginia the riders
were charged and ready to get the finals rolling at the Kona cosponsored
Slopestyle Competition, Monster Park. The Competition was held at yet another
Kona Bike Park, Snowshoe, WV and the park did not disappoint. The course was
huge and the crowds were great and the logistics top notch. If only the weather
would have been a bit more cooperative. Heavy rains forced the postponement of
the finals that were to be held on Sunday. But a show of force and perseverance

and jumps on the highest level. The Spaniard Kona Clump Rider Andreu Lacondeguy
showed some breathtaking tricks, which secured first place for him in the MTB
Dirt Jump Contest of the Nissan Outdoor Games by Columbia.
