Liam Killeen Scores Another World Cup Podium

Liam Killeen (GBR) of the Specialized Factory Team rode to his 2nd ever World
Cup Cross Country podium yesterday in the sweltering humidity of
Mont-Sainte-Anne, the famous mountain bike destination on the outskirts of
Quebec City, Canada. The 23 year old from Malvern rode his Epic in a solid race
from start to finish, despite an early crash that had him on the ground in the
first lap.

Temperatures yesterday reached the thirties but it was the oppressing humidity
that most riders found uncomfortable over 6 laps of arguably the toughest

Liam's Perfect Race To Gold

23-year-old Liam Killeen (Specialized) of Malvern, England, rode the perfect
race of strategy and patience to ultimately win the Commonwealth Games Gold
Medal in Melbourne, Australia today. In a race broadcast live to more than 50
nations around the world, Liam beat out challenges from leading World Cup
riders like Kashi Leuchs, Seamus McGrath, Geoff Kabush and Sid Taberlay to
score an historic win.

Four years ago in Manchester, at Mountain Bike Cross Country's debut into the
Commonwealth Games, Liam won England's first and only medal in the discipline,

Killeen Takes Career Best Result, 2nd in Canada

Malvern's Liam Killeen took his Specialized Epic to second place in yesterday's
penultimate round of the UCI World Cup in Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, and in so
doing not only scored his best ever result in World Cup XC racing, but also
completed the perfect 1-2 finish for his team, as Christophe Sauser of the
Specialized Factory Team took the win.

In hot and muggy conditions, the Specialized pair split away early in the race
and answered the attacks that came mid point. With 4 laps remaining, Olympic
and World Champion Julien Absalon (FRA) made his attempt to bridge the gap to

Liam Killeen Finishes Marathon Worlds Despite Hospital Visit

In possibly a first in international mountain biking, Liam Killeen finished the
World Marathon Championships at the weekend, despite a mid race visit to the
hospital to receive stitches!
